College Connections

Postsecondary Articulation Agreements:

PCTI has established partnerships with 15 colleges which lead to postsecondary credit, offering our students the wonderful opportunity to earn college credits for some of the classes they take while attending high school.

These programs also give our students unique opportunities to experience the rigors and demands of collegiate academic work while they are still in the supportive environment of the high school, and help them develop the college-readiness skills that enable them to have a smoother transition from high school to college.

Project Acceleration is offered through Seton Hall University. Students can earn up to 22 credits over the course of their high school career. The Project Acceleration program includes courses in United States History, Introduction to Sociology, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science and Calculus. Students also have access to Seton Hall’s library, numerous cultural events and many on-line resources.

Project Advance is offered through Syracuse University. Students can earn up to 28 college credits. The Project Advance program includes American History, Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, Economics and College Learning Strategies. Syracuse University supplies the curricula, plus academic support and ongoing professional development for the PCTI teachers.

Project Lead the Way offers engineering courses through Rochester Institute of Technology. PCTI students gain valuable experience through courses that include Digital Electronics, Introduction to Engineering Design and Principles of Engineering.

• Students can earn as many as 22 postsecondary credits through Passaic County Community College in the areas of Criminal Justice, Child Development, Medical Arts, and Business courses.

• PCTI has established an articulation agreement with The Art Institute of Philadelphia (AiPH). The two programs of study at PCTI lead to either an Associate of Science or Bachelor of Science degree from AiPH. One program is in Advertising Art and Design which includes six courses for 18 credits. A second program includes four courses in Graphic Design for 12 college credits. Students must also maintain a grade point average of 3.0 or better to participate in this program.

• William Paterson University has partnered with PCTI to provide college level courses in Arabic and Chinese. The WPU college professors provide instruction to our students at PCTI.

• PCTI offers a Medical Arts program partnership with the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey.

• PCTI has additional partnerships with the following colleges and universities:

  • Johnson & Wales University
  • Fairleigh Dickinson University
  • Berkley College
  • Drexel University
  • New Jersey Institute of Technology
  • Rowan University
  • Hudson County Community College
