Burlington County Institute of Technology honored Holman Automotive, which has offered students the opportunity to participate in Holman University, as its Business Partner of the Year.
The award is given annually to a county vocational technical school business partner for outstanding contributions to career and technical education. Business partners play a variety of roles, including serving on county vocational technical school program advisory boards, offering opportunities for students to gain valuable work experience, donating equipment, or serving as mentors and role models for students.
Holman University was established to offer real world training and practical experience to interested students, while creating a training pipeline and feeder system to offset the current, and future, projected deficit of technicians in the field of automotive technology.
Holman Automotive supports BCIT’s mission to prepare and successfully transition students from school to career, and to create innovative pathways for new technicians preparing for the world of work during secondary and post- secondary experiences.
Students accepted into Holman University are placed in a developmental program and are assigned a mentor technician. Student technicians also receive their first automotive tool-kit and are eligible to secure ownership of the kit based upon the successful completion of the program.
Throughout the various stages of training, students receive hourly wages, as well as the ability to participate in a fast track training plan aligned to industry recognized standards and stackable credentials such as: ASE certifications, OSHA training and safety courses, and workplace readiness training.
