Meet Jackie Gummel: DEP intern learns the importance of customer service
As an intern in the NJ Department of Environmental Protection’s Division of Local Government Assistance, Mercer County Technical Schools senior Jackie Gummel had to learn how to work with a very large clientele: The thousands of local government officials in the state’s 21 counties and 565 municipalities.
“More than 75 DEP programs impact New Jersey’s local governments, covering issues from land use, to natural and historic resources, to site remediation, to air quality,” said Cindy Randazzo, Jackie’s supervisor, who has served as Director of the office since 2010. “We want to help people fulfill their environmental responsibilities through education, effective outreach and communication.”
Jackie loved the experience. “I learned something new every day,” she said.
