The Cumberland County Board of Freeholders has added a new health sciences school at Cumberland County Technical Education Center to the county’s long-range facilities plan to meet the growing demand from students who want to enter medical fields.
…The new school would be adjacent to the recently-opened Cumberland County Technical Education Center in Vineland.
“This is an opportunity for all of us to provide additional service to the students of our county … ,” said Dr. Dina Rossi Elliott, superintendent of the Cumberland County Vocational School District…
Elliott said the new school would help students prepare for jobs in the high-demand health professions field. The healthcare industry in New Jersey has seen continued growth and demand for new employees in recent years, she said.
She said applications for the current medical programs at CCTEC has greatly outpaced available space. For example she said, for the 2016-2017 school year, 120 students applied, but there was room for only 40. For 2017-2018, the number of applications for the 40 spots roses to 158.
