A great annual event run by the Professional Chefs Association of South Jersey at the Vineland Veterans Memorial Home, with assistance from culinary arts and JROTC students at Atlantic County Institute of Technology.
With easy to read menus and a host of breakfast offerings from eggs to grits and more, the veterans bonded with their hosts over early morning carbs and coffee.
“They get the enjoyment of seeing everybody from the outside,” memorial home activities director Chris McCracken said. “To see different faces makes a big difference in their lives. It means a lot, it means 100 percent.” Children were also on hand to draw pictures for the seniors.
“We’re just very happy to do this for the vets and give our thanks back to them,” Chef Fredric Belfus said while cooking up omelettes.
