The New Jersey Department of Education this week announced $2.5 million in grants to county vocational school districts.
The grants, awarded to six school districts, are the first round of the new County Vocational School District Partnership Grant, signed into law in December.
Those county vocational districts must partner with business and industry, other school districts, county colleges or other entities to expand student opportunities in career and technical education.
New programs include culinary arts at Harrison High School, firefighting at the Salem County Emergency Management Complex and advanced manufacturing/mechatronics at Bergen County Community College.
“This Administration is committed to providing students the opportunity and resources to become college- and career-ready,” Commissioner of Education David Hespe said. “And this program is further proof of that goal.”
