February 15th, 2020

During Career and Technical Education Month in February, the New Jersey Council on County Vocational Technical Schools is highlighting successful graduates of the county’s 21 vocational technical schools.

Joshua Wiggins is a 2013 graduate of Culinary Arts program at Monmouth County Vocational School’s Culinary Education Center in Asbury Park. He continued his education at Brookdale Community College, also loaced at the Culinary Education Center. He currently works as the head chef at JBJ’s Soul Kitchen in Red Bank.

“Attending Monmouth County Vocational School  was the jump start to my success in the culinary industry. I was able to receive the right education in the classroom, as well as excellent hands on training in the kitchen. The Curriculum taught me about the science behind the food. In the kitchen, I got the chance to work side by side with the skillful instructors who could then explain things while I was performing them.

Overall I believe the very beginning steps for success start with the fundamentals. While attending Monmouth County Vocational, I was able to really focus on these necessary fundamentals. Ultimately these tools would lead to much success both in the college program as well as out in industry. The Culinary Education Center became another home to me and I am very grateful for all the staff that made it their mission to strive for my success.”
