Salem County Vocational Technical School honored the Salem County Sheriff’s Office, which includes the Department of Emergency Management, Emergency Medical Services, the 911 Call Center, the Fire Academy and the Correctional Facility, as its Business Partner of the Year.
The award is given annually to a county vocational technical school business partner for outstanding contributions to career and technical education. Business partners play a variety of roles, including serving on county vocational technical school program advisory boards, offering opportunities for students to gain valuable work experience, donating equipment, or serving as mentors and role models for students.
Representatives from the Sheriff’s Office serve on Salem County Vocational Technical School’s program advisory committee, reviewing curriculum and program needs, serving as guest speakers and instructors for the program, and training staff in emergency procedures such as Stop the Bleed and AED training.
The Sheriff’s Office assisted high school staff with setting up the school as a reunification site for area schools. The Sheriff’s Office staff has also developed various scenarios to train staff on safety and security measures. Sheriff’s officers assist high school staff with the district’s B.R.I.D.G.E. program, which provides educational opportunities to youth under the supervision of probation services.
