Union County Vocational-Technical Schools honored Dr. Susan Rele, the owner of AmeriCare Physical Therapy.

Union County Vocational-Technical Schools honored Dr. Susan Rele, the owner of AmeriCare Physical Therapy, which has multiple locations in Union, Somerset and Middlesex counties, as its Business Partner of the Year.

The award is given annually to a county vocational technical school business partner for outstanding contributions to career and technical education. Business partners play a variety of roles, including serving on county vocational technical school program advisory boards, offering opportunities for students to gain valuable work experience, donating equipment, or serving as mentors and role models for students.

AmeriCare has been an important partner of the Academy for Allied Health Sciences. Representatives of the company have served on the advisory board for the past two years, and they accept a number of student interns each year. AmeriCare representatives speak to classes, meet with students, and advise faculty members.

“Our students have had wonderful experiences learning under Dr. Rele and the other healthcare providers on site at the AmeriCare locations,” said Superintendent Gwen Ryan. “In their visits to AAHS, they have helped our students and faculty learn more about a career in the physical therapy field.”

Dr. Rele began her involvement in AAHS starting in 2006 as a parent of two graduates, and has been a dedicated partner in placing interns since 2011.

“Without dedicated business partners like AmeriCare Physical Therapy, AAHS would not have the opportunity to provide real-world experiences and connections to our students,” Ryan said.
