Congressman Tom MacArthur celebrated Career and Technical Education Month with a visit to Burlington County Institute of Technology’s Westampton Campus on February 16.
The Congressman and his staff met with Superintendent Chris Manno, Principal Joe Venuto, and other representatives from the district and the NJ Council of County Vocational-Technical Schools to discuss the importance of federal support for career and technical education programs through the Carl Perkins Act.
BCIT and other county vocational-technical schools in New Jersey rely on this federal aid to purchase the high-tech equipment that keeps career and technical education programs aligned with industry expectations and needs.
The Congressman visited the district’s Dental Occupations program, where he met students working with state of the equipment in a multi-station dental lab. Students in this program experience both hands-on and classroom learning that prepares them to test for their Dental Assistant license, as well as a Dental Radiology license.
BCIT’s culinary students prepared an impressive array of light snacks that showcased their cooking talents and keen eye for presentation.
